Bomar Studio is a company founded by Marco Bolognesi in London in 2006. It started as an art studio, mainly focused on contemporary art, and then also dedicated to the production and distribution of animation and experimental cinema.

During its time in London, the studio developed Bolognesi’s art projects that were then exhibited at prominent galleries and art fairs. It also produced the short film Black Hole, selected at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival and then broadcasted on Souvenir from Earth, an independent platform based in Germany. The short film received first prize as best film at the Science Fiction Award, The Indie Short Film Competition (Fort Lauderdale, 2008) and was acquired for the permanent collection of the Musée de la Photographie in Brussels.

In 2017 Bomar Studio moved to Italy, transforming a former 1950’s factory into a cultural, productive and multidisciplinary space, while strengthening relations and partnerships with institutions of the Italian art world.

In 2017 the studio produced the animated short Blue Unnatural, followed by Parallelism and Dystopia in 2021. All three received awards and accolades from leading experimental festivals such as the Video Art and Experimental Film Festival (New York), Another Hole in the Head Film Festival (San Francisco), the Canadian Cinematography Award (Toronto) and the Alternative Film Festival (Toronto). Recent productions from 2022 include the experimental film Undream (2K, 60 min) the animated mini-series The Truth on Sendai City (4K, 75 min), which is supported by the Italian Ministry of Culture and by the Emilia Romagna Film Commission.
