BLUE UNNATURAL

2017 | 13 minutes | Italy

Pervasive blue light and pelting rain. Spaceships whizz across the sky while enormous guardian robots patrol the ground with their powerful light beams. An immense cyberpunk, crossbred city opens up before us: Sendai City. Huge posters showing breathtaking half-naked and armed women dominate the facades of the buildings in celebration of the victory against the “rebels” and the restored peace.

Sendai City wants you.

The city wants and owns you. Every citizen is implanted with a cybernetic passport that tracks both movements and actions: security in exchange for control. The Big Brain, deus ex machina of the city-world, observes everything from behind his monitors. A threat is looming: the rebels are regrouping but the new special corps created by the Great Brain is almost ready: the C.O.D.E.X. Blue are coming. Science fiction and postmodernism meet in Blue Unnatural, a short movie that tells us the story of a world where personal freedom is nullified and persecuted, where state propaganda feeds on the oxymoron of armed peace and where workers – deprived of their identity thanks to masks that are all identical – toil on an assembly line to build robots with female features that will destroy anyone who dares opposing the laws of Sendai.
